MySpace Mobile lives on VerizonFollowing Sprint's announcement to allow its customers to easily access MySpace, the other huge U.S. CDMA carrier is also rolling out the same offering. MySpace Mobile is now available to all Verizon users with Mobile Web 2.0 enabled phones. Simply choose “MySpace” from the Connect category on the Mobile Web 2.0 home screen and you're ready to edit your profile, view and add friends, post comments and blogs, send and receive MySpace messages — all while on the go.

However, Verizon won't stop there at least when it comes to collaborating with FOX Interactive Media. Together, the two companies are preparing to roll out FOX's leading web brands to Verizon customers in the coming months to make FOX content more easily accessible to mobile phone users… Full “MySpace Mobile on Verizon” release follows after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE - MySpace, the world's most popular social network, and Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, today announced Verizon Wireless customers can now access MySpace Mobile on all Mobile Web 2.0-enabled phones.

Mobile Web 2.0 subscribers can now click directly into the MySpace Mobile Web site from the Connect category on the Mobile Web 2.0 home screen, eliminating the need for customers to type in a URL in order to access the site. With MySpace on Mobile Web 2.0, Verizon Wireless customers now have the capability to edit MySpace profiles, view and add friends, post comments and blogs, send and receive MySpace messages — all from their mobile phones.

“Millions of MySpace users have Verizon Wireless phones, and starting today we're giving them fast and simple access to our mobile site, at no additional charge,” said Brandon Lucas, senior director of mobile business development for MySpace. “Today's announcement brings us a step closer to fulfilling our vision that each user has access to MySpace, anytime, anywhere.”

Ryan Hughes, vice president of digital media programming for Verizon, stated, “Our relationship with MySpace helps us connect our customers to their friends — with MySpace available on our Mobile Web 2.0 service, our customers can take MySpace with them wherever they go.”

To access MySpace Mobile, Verizon Wireless customers simply open Mobile Web 2.0 on their phones, click on the Connect category from the home screen, and click on MySpace. On the MySpace site, customers can access a host of features, including:

  • Message Management - send, read and reply to messages from all of their MySpace friends, as well as field friend requests from their mobile devices.
  • Viewing Pic Albums - easily look at MySpace photo albums by choosing “My Photos” on MySpace Mobile.
  • Viewing Friends - look up profiles of their friends and others through their MySpace profile. Just as on standard MySpace, MySpace Mobile lets Verizon Wireless customers see profile photos and other member information via their mobile devices.
  • Friend Search - search for people by name or e-mail address, as well as send friend invites and review invites that are pending.
  • Comments / Blog Posting - post comments and update blogs just as they would from a Personal computer. Any new information entered will be posted to a member's mobile and on the web MySpace profile simultaneously.

Mobile Web 2.0 can be self-provisioned, eliminating the need for customers to call customer service or visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store to sign up for the service. Customers simply register for Mobile Web 2.0 on their Mobile Web 2.0-capable handsets by visiting the News and Info category under the Get It Now menu on their phones.

The availability of MySpace on Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web 2.0 service is part of a more massive agreement in which Verizon Wireless will distribute mobile versions of FOX Interactive Media's leading Web brands.

Unlimited MySpace Mobile use is included at no additional charge with a Mobile Web 2.0 subscription. Unlimited Mobile Web 2.0 usage is included with a $15 monthly V CAST VPak subscription, which also includes access to V CAST Video, V CAST Music and Get It Now applications. Alternatively, customers can access Mobile Web for free with a Nationwide Plan but will incur usage charges of $1.99 per megabyte. As an example, 50 Mobile Web 2.0 pages equal approximately 0.6 megabytes. Customers should view their customer agreements or see a Verizon Wireless customer service representative for additional details as legacy plans might vary.

iPhone stylus

You never know what's Steve's up to. Apple already have the handwriting recognition software in OS X and now they’re searching for a new person to help them out to extend the technology “beyond Max OS X to other applications and the iPhone.” Hmmm, sounds interesting, although we're not actually dying for a stylus on the iPhone. Here's the full text ad.

The Handwriting Recognition team is seeking an engineer who will be responsible for advancing Apple's handwriting recognition technology for Mac OS X. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the area of pattern recognition, with an excellent understanding of handwriting recognition issues. The person will also assume primary responsibility for maintaining and enhancing existing code and tools. The recognition technology you create may extend beyond Mac OS X to other applications and the iPhone.

You can find the ad — and apply if you have the skills required — from here.

If, for some bizarre reason, you were looking forward to Prototype’s multiplayer features, then now is the time to retract pre-order plans and shake your fist in the air as if to futilely reprimand God for his sunken glory. The previously planned co-op component of Prototype has been scrapped, leaving it a game for loners only.

Radical’s Tim Bennison explained that the dev team felt they would not “be able to pull it off with the same level of quality and polish that we’re aiming for with the original single player story.”

TNA and WWE might be two totally separate wrestling entities, but they both happened to reveal the first screens and information about their respective videogames yesterday. THQ told us about WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and Midway did the same thing with the TNA game they’re developing, TNA iMPACT!.

Midway sent along a (really short) press release with two screenshots of the game; you can view them after the jump and below, respectively. There’s no word on whether they’re from the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version. Either way, the screens look good — and I dare state, superior than SvR 2009. Eight more images, along with a trailer and the game’s official forums, are available at the newly launched Web site, www.tnagame.com.

I stopped watching wrestling when I was in high school for one reason or another, so I haven’t really been keeping up with the times. The last time I was really into wrestling, the WWE was still the WWF. Man, I miss the Rock ‘N’ Sock Connection… However, my colleague Gameboi is a big fan of wrestling, so he knows what he’s speaking about when he states, “TNA is where the once great wrestlers go to die. Even I can’t watch it.” Hm. Perhaps the game will be better than the real thing, then…

You’ll be able to beat the crap out of your friends in TNA iMPACT! this summer on the PS3, 360, Wii, and PS2.
