Our friends to the North will be happy to hear that Telus has followed through on rumors that they'll be launching a Canadian-flavored BlackBerry Curve 8330. The sleek, yet full-featured BlackBerry Curve 8330 offers BlackBerry fans a good dose of EVDO data, GPS, Bluetooth, and 2 megapixel camera. That is, when it finally launches on Telus's network - no word on exactly when that will be.
And, in a more solid launch, Telus has announced that the Motorola Q9c is ready to pull duty as the CDMA carrier's trim Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard handset. Moto Q9c fans in Canada can expect a 1.3 megapixel camera, EVDO data, and Bluetooth - all powered by Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard. The Motorola Q9c is available on Telus for about $150 CDN after 3-year contract(!).
Head on over to Telus for more details.

Just what will the up-town, uber-luxurious handset from the famous watch-maker look like? Well, a swift look at the spy-pics you see here show us that the handset has Vertu's high-end handset squarely in its sights. With leather and metal embellishments complementing its angular design, the Tag Heuer Meridiist is an example of precision craftsmanship come to the mobile space.
Modelabs, the same people that helped Levi launch their mobile phone, is working with Tag Heuer to bring the high-end Meridiist to market. Unfortunately, like the Vertu handsets that we all wish we could afford (even if they do lack in the features department), the Tag Heuer Meridiist will run a hefty €3,400 to €3,900 (about $5,338 to $6,123) - depending on what option-boxes you tick off when you place an order for the pricey handset.

Rather than outfitting your home-office with plasma TVs, monstrous 30″ personal displays, and a high-end personal, you can buy $6,000 worth of Sapphire crystal display glass, 2 megapixel camera, 1.9-inch QVGA display, OLED 96

On one of my daily trips to the super market I passed by the usual string of small buildings occupied by obscure little shops with names roughly 20 characters long, never gave them that much thought, until one day I noticed something a little out of the ordinary: QR codes!
They've escaped Japan and have come to Tampere of all places, a city in Finland known to be inhabited by young celebration going college children, old blueberry pie baking grandmas and mustamakkara.

That should give you an idea of the real estate prices here.
65 square meter apartment (700 square feet) is 170k EUR (266k USD).

Ehh, Wolfenstein. Do you remember those days? I never enjoyed Doom as much as Wolfenstein. Then came Spear of Destiny, bringing nothing but new levels “on the table.” Back then, I didn't mind that and after completing the first part I did the same with the sequel.
And now I'm glad to report that Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny are now available for Symbian smartphones. That's both S60 and UIQ, meaning I'll be able to like it on my Sony Ericsson W960i, which is coool.
Installation (SIS) files are available from these two links: S60 and UIQ version. Enjoy!

Here's a neat tool for (mostly) guys that should help them more easily approach that hot girl in the club. IceBrkr.com is a mobile dating service that tries to help users by-pass all the awkwardness of first contact. Here's how it works.
Users register for a membership and upload few pics of themselves. The free membership gives them 4 free messages to send, after which additional message credits (units) purchase is needed. There are no detailed profiles because the whole point of the service is the “first impression.”
Next goes mingling. IceBrkr.com is picking the dating hotspots like fancy bars, coffee shops, flash mobbing events, train stations or just about any other convenient location. You can see in advance who is going to be at a particular spot by browsing pics on your mobile phone or a Personal computer. If someone caught your eye, you go to that spot. Once there, you can use IceBrkr.com to send a message and ask whether they want to make contact. They in turn also see who's just contacted them, and can reply with easy “yes” or “no.”
After this technology stops, you're on your own. Telling a cute girl you're reading IntoMobile will certainly help.

European jetsetters just got another step closer to getting their cellphone-calling fix while strapped into that airplane seat at cruising altitude. The European Commission has just approved the use of mobile phones in airplanes over European airspace. Following on the UK's OfCom announcement that in-flight calling is good to go in Great Britain, the executive branch of the European Union has given their blessing to wireless in-flight calls.
The European Commission's commissioner Viviane Reding warned that while airlines will have the option of providing whatever in-cabin wireless services they want to offer, they had better “keep the cost of calls made on planes at a reasonable level.” That’s, unless the carriers want to feel the wrath of the Reding.
Of course, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) still needs to green-light the hardware that’ll allow all these high-flying mobile phone calls before in-flight cellphone calling becomes a commercially-viable reality. But, with OfCom and the EC on board with the idea of chatting up friends and loved ones while high in the sky, the EASA approval seems to be a trivial obstacle.

While I (and I guess rest of IntoMobile team) do support laws that would stop people from using their mobile phones without car kits or headsets while driving, somehow I’ve hard time understanding the low that would fine pedestrians for using cell phones while crossing the street. To be honest, it can distracting and accidents do happen. But can you imagine a situation where you receive an important phone call, just to tell the person on the other side that you'll call them back as soon as you cross the street? It sounds ridiculous. You can wait for the next green light to turn on, but that's not the point.
Anyway, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, Illinois say legislators might pass a bill that would do just that — fine pedestrians for using cell phones while crossing the street.
The bill, sponsored by say Rep. Kenneth Dunkin (D-Chicago), isn't anywhere close to becoming law, but it's drawing a host of reactions — from outrage to ridicule to grudging acceptance.
Illinois Secretary of Say Jesse White likes the concept, though he admits it should only be used to punish those who use their phones while jaywalking.
Even mayor Daley, who's known to oppose laws that see government intruding into people's lives, did not slam the door on the controversial proposal. He went even further, adding, “People have to comprehend, a lot of people are getting hurt and killed by vehicles in pedestrian walks. It's a safety factor. So, like anything else, you’ve to use common sense if you're walking across.”
What do you think?

Sound ID recently unveiled its latest Bluetooth headset - HD300. The device looks quite easy, and we might even add stylish, and features all the sound-enhancing bells and whistles. NoiseNavigation technology is there to automatically reduce wind and background noise, PersonalSound further enhances speech clarity without raising the volume, and Automatic Volume Control eliminates the need for constant volume adjustment in variable noise situations such as driving. In addition, “scientifically designed” RealComfort EarLoops are engineered to “better channel sound into the ear for enhanced listening.”

Feeling the all-white HTC Touch but can't get away from Verizon's CDMA network? Well, you're in luck. The white-colored HTC Touch should (finally) be making its way to Verizon Wireless's network on April 16 as the Verizon XV6900.
April 16 will see the Verizon XV6900 go live with online sales, and brick-and-mortar locations should have Xv6900 units stocked up on April 30. Of course, the Verizon-branded HTC Touch will come with the popular TouchFLO UI overlaid on top of Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional.
CDMA EVDO data, GPS, 2 megapixel camera, and some touchy-feely goodness are all packed into the Verizon Xv6900 Touch. Anticipate the XV6900 to hit Verizon for $350 after 2-year contract and $50 rebate.
