Orange announces ‘Cinéma Séries’ On-demand TV for Mobiles & PCs
Posted by: admin in Mobile NewsOrange (France) is to roll out a new Mobile service later in 2008 that apparently is going to have 6 Television channels and VoD (Video On Demand) for TV, Computer, and most importantly, Mobile!
Orange made the “convergence” announcement at the MIPTV 2008 event held in Cannes - logical really, since IPTV in many ways will form the backbone of the service.
The service will have 6 channels, 5 of which will be different, and the sixth which will simulcast in HD. In parallel, there will also be on-demand programming to Television, Personal computer, and Mobile.
The Mobile service will be 3G strreaming, and I would suspect this still to be Unicast, as oppose to the Multicast MBMS servivce that’s being touted as as a possible challenger to DVB-H.
Come on Orange, bring some convergent love over to the UK - we won't bite, honest!
