2K Games has announced that Mafia II, the sequel to the hit 1930s gangster simulator, will be heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Games For Windows platforms. Now hold on just a minute — didn’t we know that already? In any case, there are new screens to accompany this “announcement.”
First and foremost, 2K Czech gets points in my book for giving one of its characters an eyepatch. How badass is that? On a slightly more serious note, the buildings and automobiles are looking top-notch for sure, but why does everyone need to have such shiny skin?
Nitpicking aside, Mafia II looks to have some potential, so consider putting it on your radar.

 If blogging is your thing, and you like to actually get out from behind your desk each once in a while (apparently there's a whole real-life world out there, I’ve no idea what it is but I've heard of it), mobile blogging is your best bet. And, the iPhone's gorgeously large multi-touch display combined with the bad-ass Safari browser is the perfect platform from which to blog on the go.
I make it a point to take my blogging to the road and actually make a few posts with my iPhone. I can't type as fast on the iPhone's on-screen keyboard as I have the ability to with my laptop keyboard, but that's expected. I can, however, type faster on the iPhone than on any physical mobile phone keyboard I've ever used (and I've used my fair share).
So, it's good to hear that mobile blogging tools are about to hit the iPhone. WordPress is apparently going to hit the iPhone very soon - perhaps with the launch of the AppStore. Matt Mullenwag, head honcho at WordPress, will only admit that there’s a mobile device that has a WordPress client “built in,” and that “you can probably guess which one that is” - but we'll take that as confirmation that WordPress is coming to the iPhone.
Six Apart, not one to man the sidelines, will also be throwing a native TypePad blogging application into the fray. “Six Apart pioneered the mobile blogging experience with an iPhone-optimized blog service,” said Chris Alden, CEO, Six Apart. “We’re taking it to the next level with our native iPhone application for TypePad that’s already in development.”
The native third-party applications do away with the need to blog through a web interface, and will no doubt offer the benefits of speed and offline blogging to iPhone die-hards. Until these WordPress and TypePad application hit the market, you might do well to check out this WordPress plug-in (WPhone) that optimizes the WordPress interface for your iPhone (read: it's EDGE-friendly). I personally would prefer use the full WordPress interface, but I only use it in conjunction with a WiFi connection.

Right from the other side of the Atlantic, Carphone Warehouse is preparing to move overseas. The well known phone retailer, which currently has 2300 stores across Europe, is partnering with Best Purchase to launch 1,000 retail locations in the USA. Some of them will be boutique shops inside of Best Purchase stores, while some other will be stand-alone stores.
The entrance of Carphone Warehouse could impact the U.S. handset market dramatically. In Britain, the retail chain revolutionized the industry by being the first seller of phones and mobile services not affiliated with any carrier or handset maker, allowing consumers to compare prices and service plans from many providers. Will they repeat their success in the U.S.? Something tells me, they will. Ideal Buy is also confident — at the moment they hold 3% stake in the handset retailer and the plan is to increase the stake. We'll watch this space closely…

iPhone users that are at the same time GTalk and/or Jabber fans — or at least have friends that use the mentioned instant messaging clients/services — here's a piece of good news for you. Thanks to the application called iChabber you can now chat with your GTalk/Jabber buddies on your shiny handset, natively. Sure, you can use some of the web-based solutions, and that's fine. But honestly I think native is the way to go when it comes to mobile instant messaging clients.
While the application is still far from being finished — there are some usability issues which can get really annoying — the good thing is that iChabber runs in the background allowing you to be in the loop as long as you stay logged in. That's cool and I guess that’ll also be the case with Apple's IM client once it's released alongside firmware 2.0 in June.
In the meantime, you can download iChabber from here or install it from iSpazio repo in Installer.app.

We've seen the original Levi's phone back in June of last year. The jeans company obviously think they have the ability to push its somewhat interesting device a step further, hence they are launching the more pricey Red Tab Limited edition. Specs wise, the phone remains the same, boasting the same 2 megapixel camera with flash, music player, stereo Bluetooth, and a microSD slot. The difference is in the color theme (ruddy scarlett) and the etching of a flying skull on the back of the device. And the price, you ask? It's 549 EUR (about $870)! Don't know about you, but paying that much for a mid-range device that has Levi's logo doesn't make much sense in my book. Especially when a way-more-luxurious brand like Prada sells its phone for way less money. Levi's limited the production of the Red Tab phone to 100 units, so they won't end up losing tons of cash, in case you actually care about their business…

 With devices like the T60 phone pictured on the right, Taiwan-based BenQ might be onto something. At just 8.9mm it's one of the slimmest candybars available on the market. As a heavy smartphone user, I'm sad to report it's a simple feature phone that I probably won't use, like ever. However, some other people that don't want much from their handsets may find the device appealing. The 3.2 megapixel camera is on board, and so is the media player, stereo Bluetooth support, microSD slot, blacklist functionality (very cool), remote control (AVRCP) support. The QVGA screen measures at 2.2 inches and the battery provides users with up to 3 hours of talk and 200 hours of standby time. Guess they’d to cut on battery life in order to keep the device super trim. Again, I care about it, but I want it to run some mobile OS…

SymbianGuru recently released AutoThemes application for Symbian S60 smartphones. As you can guess from the name of the product, it allows users to change theme automatically, based on the active profile or user defined time schedule.
Theme changer rules are adjustable in the sense that you can activate or deactivate the rule with a single key pressing, and edit time or condition of theme change. Theme change is performed smoothly and silently, without phone reboot or any other interaction.
AutoThemes is simple to use and for 10 bucks it will certainly find its audience, especially among younger population who like tweaking their phones all the time.
