The Week in Rock (Band DLC): Sorry, but Blondie doesn’t qualify as classic rockPosted by: admin in GamingNext week, it’ll be back to the older stuff, as Harmonix will be bringing us the “Classic Rock Pack 01”. I guess their definition of “classic rock” includes any music that uses guitars and was made before in or before 1980. But frankly, I wouldn’t really think about The Police or Blondie as part of that genre; when I think of classic rock, I usually start humming songs from artists like The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton. However, Harmonix doesn’t give a damn about my opinion, unlike you guys (…right?). So they’ve lumped in those two bands with a classic rock staple, Lynyrd Skynyrd. The three songs on tap are Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” (1973), “Message in a Bottle” by The Police (1979), and Blondie’s “Call Me” (1980). Like Nick, I lament the continued lack of Journey, but I’m perfectly happy with these three master tracks. This will all be available on Xbox Live next Tuesday, April 15th, and since the PlayStation Store will finally be updated next week, PS3 owners can get these three songs, along with the last two weeks of Rock Band DLC, on Thursday, April 17th. Each song will cost 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99), though as usual, you can pick up the three-song pack for 440 MS Points ($5.49). The press release is after the jump. Via Destructoid

Massive update is massive: GTA IV Web site inundated with new contentPosted by: admin in GamingIn case Nick Chester’s fantastically detailed “GTA IV Week” posts haven’t titillated you enough, Rockstar ratcheted up the anticipation for GTA IV today with a flood of information. The update comprises a broad variety of new features on the game’s official Web site:
Nick already gave you a preview on the expansive multiplayer aspect of the game. Now you can find some information on all of the game’s team modes in the Web site’s Multiplayer section, which was previously closed with a “Coming Soon” tag. The new radio stations are Electrochoc (pronounced “Electroshock”), which features dance music, and L.C.H.C. (“Liberty City Hard Core”), which plays hardcore rock. Try them out in the widget above! I’ve included the details of the new update after the jump, straight from the News page on the official site. Check it out, and then head over to www.rockstargames.com/IV/ to see it all for yourself. [Editor’s note: For some reason, the widget won’t work in Firefox for me; I had to view this post in World wide web Explorer to get it to work. Weird, I’m not even using the beta of Firefox 3.] Via Destructoid
Truphone announced that it is in the process of acquiring SIM4travel's assets — including infrastructure, customer base, distribution and staff in Portugal and London — with an idea to complete its “GSM core network” and move beyond low-cost WiFi calls.
To put it in other words - Truphone is preparing to launch a single, worldwide, Truphone SIM that would grant users to make cheap phone calls even when they're out of WiFi zone. No dates were given, only the mystical “soon.” We're watching closely… —

Prison Break mobile game coming in June, first screenshots are herePosted by: admin in Mobile News
Back in January, we talked about Vivendi's plans to release a mobile game based on the popular TV series Prison Break. The game is scheduled for June release and while you're waiting, we got new bits of information and first screenshots to help you along the way… The game finds you in the midst of the first season and it's your job to lead Michael Scofield through 36 maps across 12 different environments. All elements of the prison breaking story are in the game, including prison rioting and tunnel digging. It's an adventure game, meaning you'll find yourself wandering around speaking with other inmates, solving puzzles, collecting and eventually using all kinds of items. From what we can tell, it will be a hit. And it's one more reason to look forward to the summer. [Via: PocketGamer.co.uk] —
Mobicue is a recently launched microblogging service that, like other similar services, has a mobile component. Whether it's a text, an image or video, users can add it either via web, email or through the dedicated mobile client. Once the file is on Mobicue's servers, you can share it with others using SMS, email or chat (Yahoo, MSN, AIM). There's also the other side of the coin that grants you to follow other people's stuff, just like on Twitter or Jaiku. Finally, to get some love among the Apple crowd, Mobicue launched the iPhone optimized version. Apple's handset users don't get the dedicated app, rather they browse around via Safari and send their pics and texts via email. —
