Dancing with the StarsTHQ has announced that the popular ABC television show based game, Dancing with the Stars, is now available for Windows Personal computer, on the web download and mobile phones.

Dancing with the Stars for mobile phones lets wireless gamers select their celebrity and costume while training their way through five exciting mini-games. Players can select from 16 favorite celebrity dancers as they choose to perform the Cuban Cha-Cha or the Jive to wow the judges. Gamers can also track their successes and ranking in an eight week competition.

I haven't had a opportunity to try out the game and honestly it doesn't sound that interesting. Guess they figured it's the series of mini games that could make the Dancing with the Stars game playable. And while I'm still not convinced, I might actually try it…

Australia's Telstra will be switching off its CDMA network in favor of the new HSDPA-enabled 3G network, following the approval by the Australian government.

TelstraAccording to The Australian, initially the government resisted giving green light to the mobile operator over concerns that the new network wouldn’t be able to provide coverage in more remote areas and other technical issues. However, Communications Minister Stephen Conroy told reporters he was “satisfied that Telstra has met the equivalence tests in its licence condition and has sufficiently rectified the problems I identified in January, including handheld handset coverage, customer information provision and the availability of equipment and services.”

Conroy urged Telstra's CDMA customers to switch mobile providers as soon as possible or to take advantage of Telstra's ongoing handset exchange scheme.

Telstra's new HSDPA-enabled 3G network, known as “Next G”, uses 850 MHz rather than 2100 MHz enabling it to cover much greater geographic distances.

More M&A news. Apparently, Vodafone is interested to acquire the Anglo-Italian ISP Tiscali.

TiscaliAccording to The Guardian, Tiscali's board likes selling both its UK and Italian subsidiaries together rather than separately.

In addition to Vodafone, a host of other companies are also interested in Tiscali — including BSkyB, Orange, Carphone Warehouse, Telecom Italia, Fastweb and Sky Italia — but most of them are believed to be interested in just one of the Tiscali subsidiaries, not both.

Following its acquisition of Italian ISP Tele2 last year, Vodafone undoubtedly confirmed its interest in the Italian fixed-line market. Likewise, the Huge Red operator is also reportedly keen to expand its UK broadband business, which currently uses BT's network for access.

Tiscali UK is Britain's fourth-largest broadband provider with around 1.8 million customers. A deadline for initial non-binding offers is set for May 5.

Golden Ticket sponsored profiles consist of a pic of the brand and tags describing the product. For example, a member with the tag 'music' may encounter a branded profile promoting KISS FM, giving the member the option to 'Crush' or 'Flush' the profile. If the member crushes the profile, they’ve the option to engage further by clicking a link to sign up for a KISS event, download a song, or join a VIP program.

And what does the industry considers it? A senior analyst with Frost & Sullivan said that the model presented by Crush or Flush is innovative and promising by “allowing people to interact with brands as if they were real profiles on the site while also opening a new revenue channel for on the web and mobile social networks.”
