Resident Evil creator won't be playing Resi 5 screenshot

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami may have birthed us a famous horror series, but he is currently spurning it. The ex-Capcom man is refusing to play Resident Evil 5, claiming it will cause him too much stress to do so.

“I probably won’t play it. I won’t care about it, because it’s not going to be the game I would have made,” explains Mikami. “It’ll just cause me stress if I play it. I think it could be fun for gamers to play it, but not for someone who has developed Resident Evil games.

“If I see anything in Resident Evil 5 that isn’t done well, I’ll be angry!”

And you wouldn’t like Shinji Mikami when he’s angry.

Seriously though, it must be difficult for a game maker once a franchise has been wrested from his hands, having to watch other people develop it and take the IP in directions you had never intended. It would be like a musician being forced to hand over his instruments to someone else and watching a totally different person play under their name.

Still, Mikami is with Platinum now, a company that is showing extraordinary potential. Perhaps it’s best that he’s devoting his time to Suda 51 projects and secret Sega shenanigans, rather than waste time playing those no good videogames.

Familiar faces grace cover of THQ's WWE Legends of WrestleMania screenshot

Now I know a lot of you guys shut down when we speak about wrestling videogames. I’ve heard it all before, including the revelation that wrestling isn’t “real” and that it used to be cooler back in the day when you used to walk uphill to school, barefoot in the snow.

Well, this might be of some interesting to you — THQ has revealed the cover for their upcoming wrestling title WWE Legends of WrestleMania, and you might see some faces you’ll recognize. Likeness of Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and The Rock will all grace the cover of the upcoming title when it launches next year. Additionally, managers and huge personalities Bobby Heenan and “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart are also featured prominently.

Naked Brothers Band, Children of Bodom, Squeeze, etc. screenshot

It looks like next week’s Rock Band downloadable content is a random assortment of nine tracks, covering multiple styles and eras. This means, of course, no one will be happy and everyone will bitch.
