Now that Apple has announced that it is pulling out of Macworld after its 2009 event, during which Steve Jobs won’t be making a keynote presentation, the outpouring of outrage is being heaped upon us once again by those who can’t believe that Apple is ending its association with IDG and its expo.
Why? IDG and Apple’s relationship over the past few years has been anything but cordial, and we can’t forget that Apple wants complete control over, well, anything Steve Jobs can get his hands on. On top of that, Apple has been able to create Macworld-like hype for its own events, so the need for a Macworld keynote is even less appealing.
But to simply stop there in trying to explain Apple’s decision to drop out of IDG’s event would be overlooking the idea that the company may have run out of ideas for Macworld destined to send shock waves through the industry.

Why the exclamation point, Chad? Is this news really that exciting? Simple answer: YES! Anything involving Wallace & Gromit is the most breathtaking thing ever. And anyone that doesn’t think so can kindly run into oncoming traffic (
Telltale Games just sent us over a handful of first official screens from its recently announced game Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. And they look great! Well, they look great just for the fact that they remind me exactly of the classic animated shorts (and feature film). You can even see fingerprints on the “clay!”
Sadly, there’s still no real word on what kind of game Grand Adventures actually is. We do know it will be released in episodic installments. But is it a classic adventure game (yes, please)? Action? Driving (no, thank you)? Of course we here at Destructoid will let you know the minute we find out more.
What do you think? Given the poor reception of past Wallace & Gromit games, are you at all excited for Grand Adventures? Like me, are you hoping Feathers McGraw makes an appearance in this game?

SouthPeak, I like you, but give me something to work with here. I’ve got no problem making the same tired jokes about Ayumi wearing impractically revealing clothes with each new X-Blades post, but I need more of a bone tossed my way than endless batches of screens.
Give me a video, give me something to preview, give me something, guys. ‘Tis the season for giving. Ah well, let’s get on with the article …
Here are some new screens for X-Blades. Ayumi does not wear many clothes. I’d like to administer some sexual intercourse to her. With my genitals. I like action games. I want to play this. This is a videogame. Screenshots.

The ideal Mac on the market
(Credit: Apple)
Some might disagree with my sentiment that the Mac Mini is the ideal Apple personal on the market, but as an owner of practically every Mac known to man, I think I can state, without any reservation, that the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro don’t hold a candle to the small, yet versatile Mac Mini.
And that’s exactly why I was extremely pleased to read the rumor that Apple might be updating the Mac Mini at Macworld next month.
Apple has not confirmed that rumor, and all reports are pure speculation, based on circumstantial evidence. But who cares? If Apple decides to keep the Mac Mini, it makes perfect sense for the company to update it at Macworld, since it hasn’t seen a refresh in quite some time. And with the economy the way it is, I think Apple wants to make its cheapest Mac an even more attractive personal for those who are on a budget.
Besides pricing, the Mac Mini offers the ideal value of any Mac on the market. State what you will about the power of the Mac Pro or the versatility of the MacBook, but I simply don’t think any other Mac compares to the Mac Mini for the average consumer, who doesn’t care about video editing but wants an extremely versatile machine that can double as a set-top box, media server, or a casual companion in the living room.
