Preview: Invincible Tiger The Legend of Han Tao screenshot

Invincible Tiger The Legend of Han Tao is an upcoming beat ‘em up game for XBLA and PSN. The game has cartoony visuals and a ‘70s kung fu flick style to it.

Invincible Tiger is also the first console game to be in 3D. This isn’t your lame plastic red and blue 3D visuals. The visuals really jump out at you when you wear the 3D glasses. Hit the break for more on Invincible Tiger.

Invincible Tiger The Legend of Han Tao (XBLA, PSN)
Developer: Blitz Games Studios
Publisher: Namco Bandai
To be released: TBA

The story sees the main character, Han Tao, as he goes on a quest to reclaim the Star of Destiny that was stolen by evil forces. My hands-on time with the game was short, but I fought against a wide variety of enemies and liked how fast paced the action was.

The 3D visuals were extremely impressive. In one of the levels, Cherry Blossoms petals were blowing about and you could have sworn the petals were really in the room with you. You can play the game in 2D as well so you don’t have to worry about being forced to buy and extra accessory.

With that stated though, I’ve to wonder what they’re going to do to promote the 3D glasses. The game is a digital title so packing in the glasses with the game isn’t an option. The glasses also looked pretty costly.

There will be two-player co-op both local and on the web and the game is expected to be around eight hours or so. Check out the two gameplay videos below to see how the game looks in action.

Preview: Tekken 6 is ... well, Tekken screenshot

I’m not really much of a Tekken player, but I’ve always seen the series as Namco’s Lamborghini or Ferrari line of automobiles.

With every iteration, nothing much really changes except for the style, and each time a new one comes out the connoisseurs must have it. Tekken 6 is no different. Tekken players, like the rich people who buy new vehicles every year, will be clamoring to purchase Tekken 6 on day one.

Why? Because it’s Tekken, and there’s a number 6 attached to the end of it.

Tekken 6 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
Developer: Namco Bandai
Publisher: Namco Bandai
To be released: October 27, 2009

Now, like the newest Ferrari or Lamborghini, the latest edition of Tekken will always be the slickest, fastest, and sleekest version of Tekken to date. But it’s still the same Tekken that you played back in the day. Even though you’ll have console specific content, forty playable characters, breakable environments, motion blur, deeper customization than the previous Tekkens, and even the new Rage Mode (attacks become stronger when your health drops below 10%!) – you’re still playing the exact same Tekken as before.

Not like that’s a bad thing, though, right? While Tekken 6 may just be more Tekken, and although Tekken 6 is the ’slickest, fastest, and sleekest version’ of Tekken to date; fans of the series already read the only two things about it that they needed to know for a purchase.

It’s Tekken, and there’s a number 6 attached to the end of it.

Avatars vs Home? MS survey suggests so screenshot

A new survey from Microsoft suggests that Avatars could soon be in direct competition with PlayStation Home, after questions surrounding a “Virtual Setting” for Xbox Live’s twee tiny freaks have appeared to gage public interest.

The survey asks its participants which of the listed changes they find the most appealing, with one of the options suggesting that gamers could possibly “interact with others via Avatars in a virtual social setting.” Sounds pretty much like Home to us.

Max Payne 1 and 2 get the Xbox Originals treatment screenshot

Looks like the ESRB listing was correct. Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2 are now available for download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. They’re both Xbox Originals and carry a hefty price tag –1200 Microsoft Moon Bucks, to be exact.

If you find yourself itching to re-enter the drab world of Max Payne, then you’re probably excited about Max Payne 3. Unfortunately, it won’t be coming until Winter 2009, which is an epoch according to World wide web time. So, you may be better off sating your eagerness with these two classic Payne titles.

I haven’t had a chance to download these yet, so I don’t know if they’re busted or buggy like a few of the Xbox Originals available. Are any of you going to bite?

Pre-order Transformers and get some golden skins screenshot

The GameStop Exclusive train keeps on rolling. For a limited time, each person who reserves The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will receive an additional downloadable skin for Megatron and Optimus Prime. And yes, that header image is no lie — the skins are golden. Whoa.(You can view more photos here.)

The offer is available for online and in-store pre-orders. You’ll get a keychain containing the code or codes whenever you receive the game. So, if you ordered off the World wide web, it’ll come in the packaging on June 23 (hopefully).

I haven’t much use for a golden Optimus Prime. A golden Michael Bay, however, would be the ideal talking piece ever.

Review: Clock 24-7 screenshot

The Xbox Live Community Games channel empowers budding game developers to create their own blockbuster titles in the hopes of attracting attention and one day becoming the next Shigeru Miyamoto. At least in theory. In practice, it’s a place where you can make a pretend clock and then sell it for 200 Microsoft Points.

Welcome to the official Destructoid review of Clock 24-7, a “game” that does exactly what it promises. It’s a clock. I have no idea how I’m going to review this, but it was submitted to our Community Games Challenge and I am duty bound to review it.

Famitsu, Amazon say Bethesda is publishing WET screenshot

A few weeks back, WET developer A2M told us that the title was most certainly still on track for a 2009 release. The biggest question was who would handle publishing; after losing Sierra, WET was seemingly left in limbo.

According to the latest issue of Famitsu (via Siliconera), it appears that Bethesda Softworks has come to the rescue. And either Amazon.com is getting its information from Famitsu, or this actually is the case — the game’s Amazon product page certainly lists “WET by Bethesda.”

The game seems like an odd choice for the developer (best known for role-playing titles like Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls), but it certainly would flesh-out its 2009 line-up. We don’t know anything more about WET that we can tell you right now, but interested celebrations should keep their eyes peeled for details soon.

Week in Rock Band DLC: Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking screenshot

Say it with me: “It’s about God damned time.” Revealed as downloadable content last freakin’ year, the classic Jane’s Addiction album Nothing’s Shocking is coming to Rock Band as downloadable content next week. The ideal news? It’s coming to all three platforms, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

The following tracks — along with “Mountain Song,” which already appears on the Rock Band 2 disc — will complete the album:

Halbrick introduces us to the rest of the Raskulls screenshot

When we revealed the previous batch of “Raskully Profiles” for Halfbrick’s XBLA debut Raskulls, a number of posters demanded that we see less concept and more in-game material. Halfbrick listened, and has decided to get all remaining profiles out of the way now.

These character introductions were originally going to be more staggered, but due to your feedback they’ve all been released today, with screenshots promised to come our way within the next week. Popular view wins the day!
