Looks like you won’t need to wait until September to use your plastic instruments to rock out to Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire,” included in Guitar Hero 5. Harmonix and MTV have announced that a Kings of Leon track pack — along with music by Rancid, Rise Against, and Lush — is coming to the Rock Band Music Store next week.
Kings of Leon pack ($5.49/440 MS Points for pack; $1.99/160 per song)
“Crawl”
“Molly Chambers”
“Sex on Fire”
Rancid pack ($5.49/440 MS Points for pack; $1.99/160 per song)
“Last One to Die
“Ruby Soho”
“Time Bomb”
Rise Against pack ($5.49/440 MS Points for pack; $1.99/160 per song)
“Prayer for the Refuge”
“Re-Education (Through Labor)”
“Savior”
Lush – “Sweetness & Light” ($1.99/160 MS Points)
Those new tracks are specific to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band, but the Wii and PlayStation Portable will be seeing some update love as well. That stuff after the jump.

We all knew it was coming, and today is has been confirmed that Microsoft will soon be charging for a range of pretend clothes with which to adorn your twee little Avatar. Images of the NXE’s summer update reveal a whole new Avatar wardrobe, with prices attached.
As you can see from the above image, a Steampunk jacket will cost you 160 Microsoft Moon Dollars. Frankly, that’s 160 Moon Dollars too much to play dress up with something that has completely zero use to anybody whatsoever, but there are people out there who will buy it. Lots of people.
How about you? Will you be suckered in by the lure of Steampunk and Halo shirts, or are you holding out for 19th Century ruffs?

The oddly beloved trivia game 1 vs. 100 Live is going to be available to those with an Xbox LIVE Silver subscription once again starting this Friday and continuing through Sunday. However, this temporary offer only pertains to the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and France.
Besides the potential to land in the mob or become the one and win an XBLA game or MS Points, Microsoft is also holding a sweepstakes in the US and Canada. By simply playing either 1 vs 100 Live or 1 vs 100 Extended Play, you could win a Zune or a home theater system.
Using unscientific evidence and plenty of gossip, I have determined that in order to become the one, you must have a horrible track record for the game, a low Gamerscore, and your Avatar must be uncommon. That way, you’re guaranteed not to win and Microsoft has less free stuff to give away. It’s true, isn’t it Chris Cashman?
