Space Ark is a just-announced Xbox LIVE Arcade game that I have the ability to only describe as sickeningly adorable.

Strawdog Studios — who you might recognize as the team behind the PSN/XBLA game Geon — describes it as a “fun homage” to Rainbow Island, Bubble Bobble, and Arkanoid based on their “bright and bouncy” nature.

The basic idea here’s that you’re launching animals to collect stuff not unlike how you would go about bouncing balls off your paddle in Breakout. It’s nothing revolutionary, which is where the absurd amounts of charm and cuteness come in.

As for specifics, we know Space Ark will be out this spring, but that’s about it to be frank. Seems like a potentially fun game if you can stomach the bright colors and incessant rainbows.

Excella devastates in new Resident Evil 5: GE videos screenshot

Last week, Capcom brought us word that Excella will be a playable character in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition’s Mercenaries Reunion mode. Excella, if you don’t remember, is the second hottest piece of ass (first being blond/psycho Jill Valentine) to appear in a Resident Evil game. She also kind of looks like Eva Mendes.

She’s as beautiful as she is deadly. Not only that, she likes to play around with her enemies before killing them. Like a Killer Whale. Excella is one ruthless bitch.

Hit the break to check out video of Josh running around in Mercenaries Reunion, even though we all know he’s going to be the least used character.

Keflings developer announces A World of Keflings screenshot

More Keflings action is set to come in 2010. In an exclusive reveal with IGN, Kingdom of Keflings developer NinjaBee teased A World of Keflings, a follow-up to the 2008 casual XBLA title.

It’s more than the original, NinjaBee’s Steve Taylor told IGN, mentioning that it will have a “new story focus,” new worlds and quests, as well as customization options.

“When we set out to make a second Keflings game, “game art director Brent Fox told IGN, “we decided that we were going to do it right and make it a whole new experience that was more massive and better than the first.” Brent added that it will retain the chill atmosphere and play, but will also be deeper, more funny, and feature rich.

Sounds great, but can you still kick tiny people? This is something we have to know.

Newegg has a huge selection of $10 Xbox 360 games screenshot

I went into a local thrift shop (game hunting) the other day and found that they’d about 8 shelves full of what looked to be brand-new DVDs, Blu-ray movies and videogames in stock. They had stickers on them from several retailers, including Wal-Mart and Best Purchase. Most of them were between $5 and $7. Probably hot. Who cares. I bulked up my Blu-ray horror movie collection for almost nothing. They’d lots of games, but they were all dogsh*t titles.

Newegg has a lot of Xbox 360 games on sale. What’s nice is that you don’t have to deal with gross thrift store employees or people who haven’t showered in 2 weeks. You just click and they come to your door. And they’re probably not hot.

Titles range from $6.99 to $9.99. NeoGAF was nice enough to make a full list, which you’ll find after the jump. Most titles are older ones, but there are some good buys in here. Need help on making a purchase decision? Check our reviews section before you click. Pass on that Operation Darkness for $8.99. Trust me. Same for Zoids Assault. (Sorry, Atlus!) I would state that Dark Sector is worth your $8, though.

'Secret Armory of General Knoxx' Borderlands DLC revealed screenshot

Gearbox has announced its third piece of DLC for Borderlands today, “The Secret Armory of General Knoxx,” slated to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this year.

The DLC will bring a “huge new environment” featuring new enemies and new weapons. Gearbox is saying the experience is designed “for growth for characters from around level 34 to level 50.” Yes, apparently Gearbox will be raising the level cap for this upcoming DLC, even though they haven’t confirmed by how much.

Kitase confirms Final Fantasy XIII DLC screenshot

Back in December, Square Enix hinted that downloadable content was being considered for Final Fantasy XIII. Now, a new quote from producer Yoshinori Kitase has all but confirmed the inevitability of extra content for the big RPG sequel.

“At first we had plans to release the game simultaneously worldwide,” Kitase tells Official PlayStation Magazine. “So we’d the intention to deliver identical version between the regions. When we noticed that we wouldn’t make it, we decided to release the game as fast as possible in the west after its release in Japan. We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay. We did prepare DLC but it will arrive a tiny later in the west.”

This is the first solid mention of DLC since December’s hint, which would indicate that DLC is pretty much a given now. As to what the DLC will actually be, who could guess? Why not give a try yourself, and let us know what kind of content you’d like to see?

With such a heavy focus on co-op and the inclusion of certain characters in Lost Planet 2, I was starting to wonder if there would be any sort of serious story elements in the game, or if you’d simply be tasked with moving from area to area, killing everything in your way.

The latter choice would have been perfectly acceptable in my book; not every videogame has to tell a gripping narrative. Based on this latest trailer, though, a full story will be present. Capcom just hasn’t been showing off much in the way of cut scenes so far.

Plus, giant boss battles make for better marketing. If you’ve got four minutes of free time, why not spend them watching this Lost Planet 2 trailer? It is indeed epic. Also, the pirate love can only be seen if you read between the lines (yes, you can read between the lines of a video).
