Apple’s iPhone is not just limited to making calls, taking photos or texting, there are various exciting features and some of them are relatively unknown. In this post, we will walk you through some iPhone’s hidden features.
1. Reply to messages without unlocking your iPhone
Apple now allows its users to respond to texts right from their iPhone’s lock screen, which is more convenient. To do this, swipe left on the lock screen notification, and touching reply will allow you to reply to messages without unlocking your device.
2. Reply to texts while you are in apps
If you are in apps like games or YouTube, there are times when you have to leave these apps to respond to texts, which is super annoying. Luckily, iPhone now allows you to respond to texts without even leaving apps. To do this, swipe down from the top of the screen and access the notification drawer to respond to a text while you are in apps.
3. Send self-destructing audio and messages
In iOS 9, you can send audio and messages that will expire after 2 minutes by heading to Settings > Messages and tap Expire under the Audio Messages and Video Messages headings, and you can choose to let audio and messages stay available for 2 minutes.
4. View every photo your friends have texted you and vice versa
There is an easy way you can try to view every photo and video that you have sent your friends or vice versa. All you need to do is to open the messaging thread in the Messages app and tap on the Details button in the top right corner of the screen.
5. Mute text messages
In iOS, you can mute text message notifications for any individual contacts and conversations. To do this, you can go to the messaging thread, tap the Details button and slide the Do Not Disturb button to the right to enable the mode.
6. Share location with friends
If you cannot describe exactly where you are, you can send your location to your friends via text messages. To do this, tap the Details button in the upper right corner of the messaging thread and select Send My Location. Besides, you can let your friends track your location by tapping the Share My Location button.
7. Name a group conversation
If you are one of those who frequently chat with the same group about a particular topic, you can name that group conversation, which is extremely helpful. To do this, tap the Details button in the messaging thread and enter the name for your conversation in the Group Name field.
8. Read anything using Siri
Siri is a bigger deal than you think. In this case, you can enable Siri to read the content of a web page, book, or text messages. You can go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Speech and enable Speak Screen and Speak Selection. Once it is done, just swipe down from the top of the screen, Siri will dictate anything on the screen.
9. Control your iPhone using head movements
This is an exciting feature hidden in the Accessibility section. Head to Settings > General > Accessibility and scroll down to Interaction subhead and tap the Switch Control button. Tap Switch > Add New Switch > Camera and choose Left Head Movement or Right Head Movement.
