WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging applications with a user base of one billion. Facebook-owned messaging service has tons of features. However, some of them are hidden. In this post, we will show you some secret WhatsApp tips for your iPhone you might not know about.
1. Find who you talk to most
If you now own an iPhone, you can easily find out who your favorite person in WhatsApp is, or how much storage each person eats up. To do this, you can head to Settings > Account > Storage Usage > Select Contact.
2. Create calendar events automatically
If you are one of those who usually forget dates mentioned in your chats, you can automatically create an event right from WhatsApp by pressing and holding date within chat, and tap Create Event.
3. Hide the annoying blue ticks
Blue ticks act as read receipts in WhatsApp that let people know when you have read their messages. However, there are many times when you don’t want to reply to messages, you will find this feature super annoying.
In iOS, you can easily turn off this feature by going to Settings > Account > Privacy and disable Read Receipts.
4. Mark chats as unread
There are many times when you forget to reply to a chat. WhatsApp offers a useful way that helps you mark your important chats as unread so you can come back later. In iOS , head to Chats, swipe left to right and select Mark as Unread.
5. Save data allowance
If you are on a limited mobile data plan, and you don’t want WhatsApp to take up too much mobile data, you can easily choose to restrict media files to auto-download and make sure that calls eat up as little data as possible. To do this, you can go to Settings > Data Usage.
6. Disable Show Preview
Like the Messages app, WhatsApp allows you to stop your friends from seeing your messages. To do this, you can head to Settings > Notifications and disable Show Preview. Once it is done, every time you receive a new message, only the contact’s name will appear instead of the whole story.
7. Hide your profile picture
If you don’t want people to see your profile picture, you can change the settings so that only you or your contacts can see your profile picture. This could be useful especially if you are part of a secret group and you don’t want your friends and family to know that. To do this, you need to head to Settings > Account > Privacy > Profile Photo.
8. Customize notifications
There are many times when you want to know instantly if your favorite contacts are calling you or sending you messages. With WhatsApp, you can easily do this by changing their specific alert tones.
To do this, you can head to Chats > Specific Chat > Tap on contact name > Customize notifications.
