Google officially introduced the Android 8.0 Oreo version. While Google stated that the update would reach to Pixel and Nexus devices first, others OEM smartphones like OnePlus would not be far behind. Here’s everything we collected from other sources relating to the Android 8.0 update for OnePlus phones.
The Android 8.0 Oreo version comes with a range of new features, redesigned notifications, better battery saving, and the new picture-in-picture support. During the event, Google talked about multiple smartphone manufacturers working on Android O update and although OnePlus wasn’t mentioned, they confirmed the Android 8.0 update would come soon. With that statement, here are the update plans for the OnePlus 3, 3T and the latest OnePlus 5 smartphone.
Android 8.0 Oreo Updates For OnePlus Smartphones
Earlier this year OnePlus started working on Android updates for both Chinese and the global model. OnePlus is working hard to bring the latest software and features to all devices at a faster pace. TheAndroid 7.0 Nougat update was an indication as it arrived very quickly to all supported OnePlus phones. So, we can expect the same fast rollout of Android 8.0 for its phones. However, for some devices, Android O will be the last update.
According to the OnePlus developer team, a very good news for the OnePlus 3/3T users as they will get the Android 8.0 O update within this year. The same goes for the OnePlus 5 as well.
The company also confirms both the older phones, and the new OnePlus 5, will receive the anticipated update sooner than expected. It’s also worth noting that the Android Nougat arrived at the last minutes on December 31st to fulfill the company’s promise. But with the Android O, we hope that it could arrive earlier before the end of November, and you should not be surprised if it lasts to December.
The OnePlus 3, 3T and 5 are stated to get the Android 8.0 before the end of 2017. So, we expect the same promise last year will happen.
