To use the Uber app integration, you first need to start the process on your phone. Here’s how:
Step 1: Ensure you have installed the Uber app on your Phone. Plus, you also need to have an account created and a payment method associated with your account.
Step 2: Launch the Google Home app, navigate to Devices, and then Google Home Settings.
Step 3: Tap More > Services > Uber.
Step 4: In case your Uber account isn’t already linked, tap Link account.
Step 5: You are now prompted to enter your Uber account and password.
Step 6: You need to accept the integration in order for your account to be linked to Google Home.
After the setup is done, get back to your Google Home.
In order to book a car, you need to say either “OK Google, get me an Uber” or “OK Google, request an Uber” to activate the speaker. This will bring up the Uber’s voice interface. If this is the first time you have used it, you need to confirm your pickup address. After that, it will note the nearest Uber driver and ask you whether you want to pick up.
Because Uber interface on Google Home does not allow you to type in the destination, you need to launch the app on your phone and type in the destination before the pickup time.
Once you call an Uber using Google Home, you are presented with two follow-up requests: “OK Google, where’s my Uber” and “OK Google, cancel my Uber”. You will have a 5-minute window after requesting to cancel the request without penalty.
That’s all there is to it. Got any questions about how to call an Uber using Google Home? Sound off in the comments below.
