Windows 10 Mail app defaults to displaying the first line of each email along with the subject line. But as you work in public places, or have nosy family and friends, you may not want others to see the content of your emails. Thankfully, the Mail app gives you the option to disable message preview text. Wanna know how it’s done? Let’s walk along with me.
Steps to disable Message Previews in Windows 10 Mail
Step 1: First and foremost, you will need to launch the Mail app on your PC.
Step 2: Once you are in, click the Settings icon at the bottom left corner of the Mail window.
Step 3: Chose Reading from the Settings pane that slides out on the right.
Step 4: In the Conversation section, click the Show preview text slider to turn it off.
From now on, you will no longer see the first line of text on every email in the list.
It’s worth noting that when you click on an email, it will automatically open in the preview pane on the right. Although you cannot turn off the preview pane in Settings, you can easily hide it. You first need to change the width of the window using your mouse, and then decrease it until the preview pane disappears. Now, the list of accounts and folders, and the list of emails will show up on the left and right respectively.
That’s all there is to it. Pretty simple, right? With the message preview text disabled, each message will take up less room in the list of email, so you can view more messages at once.
