Meizu has begun sending out press invites for an event on January 27. It is rumored that the Chinese smartphone maker will unveil the Meizu M5s at the event.
Back in December, the first images of an alleged Meizu surfaced on the Internet, but there was no word on the name or official release date. After that, TENAA certification showed a Meizu smartphone in two different versions, including M612Q and M612M with exactly same specifications, so it’s possible that one of them could be a global version, while the other one is exclusive to China. Then, a new leak from China showed us Meizu’s smartphone launch roadmap for 2017 indicating the first one, Meizu M5s, would be unveiled in February.
The Meizu M5s will sport a 5.2-inch screen with 720 x 1280 HD resolution. TENAA was yet to reveal the name of the SoC powering the smartphone in their listings. But, it showed that the M5s is powered by an octa-core 1.3GHz processor. The smartphone will be available in multiple storage variants. To specify, the base, mid and top-end ones will get 2GB of Ram and 16GB of internal storage, 3GB of Ram and 32GB of onboard memory, 4GB of Ram and 65GB of onboard storage respectively. In terms of camera, the Meizu M5s will come with 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras. The device will be backed by a 2,930mAh battery and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow software installed out of the box.
Weighing in at 138g and measuring 148.2 × 72.53 × 8.4mm, the Meizu M5s will come in three colors, including Silver Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold.
