There are times when you need to get the saved Wi-Fi passwords in Windows 10 in order to share it with others, or to connect another device to the same network. But badly, you have forgot the password for the Wi-Fi network that you had earlier connected to. Don’t worry, Windows 10 (and previous versions of Windows) offers you an option to view save Wi-Fi password easily. Read on to learn how to do it.
Steps to view password of existing Wi-Fi network
In case you would like to view the passwords of Wi-Fi networks that you are currently connected to, you can do the following on your Windows 10 PC:
Step 1: First and foremost, you will need to right click on the Start menu button and then navigate to Network Connections.
Step 2: Once you are in the Network Connections page, right-click on Wireless Network Connection, and then choose Status.
Step 3: Click on Wireless Properties.
Step 4: Next, choose the Security tab, check the box for Show characters, and the Wi-Fi network’s password should display instantly.
Steps to view password of previously connected Wi-Fi network
In case you would like to view the passwords of Wi-Fi networks that you had earlier connected to, you can do the following on your Windows 10 PC:
Step 1: First, right click on the Start menu button and click Command Prompt (Admin) to bring up the Command Prompt.
Step 2: Once you are in, enter the following command and then hit Enter:
netsh wlan show profiles
You will then be presented with a list of the Wi-Fi networks you connected to in the past.
Step 3: Enter the following command, and then hit Enter to get details of the Wi-Fi network.
netsh wlan show profile name=NetworkName key=clear
Note that NetworkName is the name of your Wi-Fi network whose password you would like to know.
Step 3: Once done, you should see the Wi-Fi network’s password appear next to Key Content.
