A couple of days ago, the yet-to-be-announced Vivo V5 Plus was available for pre-order in Malaysia, and now the new handset has been officially unveiled by the Chinese company.
The V5 Plus does sport significant upgrades from its predecessor, the V5 unveiled last year. One of the key specs of the V5 Plus is dual front camera arrangement, with 20MP + 8MP resolution and “selfie softlight” flash. This is seen as the biggest selfie camera revolution. The 20MP camera is equipped with Sony’s IMX376 1/2.78-inch sensor coupled with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens system, while the 8MP one features f/2.0 aperture capable of capturing depth information. Similar to the Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus, with the help of the dual front camera, users will be able to take pictures packed with that unique bokeh effect, while keeping faces sharp and blurring the backgound.
The rear camera doesn’t come with advanced features though. It features a 16-MP camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and has the ability to record 4K video.
On the hardware front, the V5 Plus runs on octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The handset also features a 5.5-inch full HD display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 on top, and a 3,160mAh battery providing juice to the internals. It ships with Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The V5 Plus packs a fingerprint sensor on the front, but it has a physical Home button as well. In terms of dimensions, the smartphone measures 152.58 x 74 x 7.26 mm, and it weighs in 158.6g with an all-metal construction.
The V5 Plus will come in gold color only and it will soon launch in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar.
