Before the appearance of the MIX line, top-of-the-line flagships of Xiaomi were those like Mi 5 or Mi 6. And now the company is going to launch the Xiaomi Mi 8 at an event in Shenzhen tomorrow. Are you excited to see what will be released? Here are all the rumors ahead of its official release.
Xiaomi Mi 8- Like an iPhone but better
A different translucent shell
Thanks to a hands-on video leaked a past few days, we can know what should be the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 8 with a translucent shell. The smartphone will offer a glimpse at some internal components.
Another iPhone X clone?
According to images leaked on the internet, the design of the Xiaomi Mi 8 has been perplexed. The Chinese company will end up in the same unlucky situation that many other OEM manufacturers end up in.
The Mi 8 not just looks like the iPhone X, but it also looks like a precise clone at a first glance, with a notch at the top. Photos published by Slashleaks shows the presence of the notch on the front along with a bezel-less display.
Xiaomi is trying to rival the Cupertino firm. At the launch event of Mi Mix 2S, the references to Apple are plain to see. So if renderings are true, the company would make many fans disappointed with originality and character gained on the MIX series.
In-screen fingerprint reader and 3D face scanner
According to sources, Xiaomi decided to integrate a 3D face scanner in its Mi 8, make the company become the first manufacture in Android smartphone market to get this technology.
But unlike Apple, Xiaomi might integrate an ultrasound fingerprint reader into the Mi 8’s display to give users another method of unlocking in case the phone forces them to use their FaceID version.
An AI dual camera setup
The arrangement of the dual cameras is inspired by the iPhone X with a vertical alignment in the top left corner. However, Xiaomi can overtake Apple in terms of camera quality, which has already been demonstrated on the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S.

Xiaomi does not make any compromises
The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be equipped with the most powerful hardware currently. According to the rumors, the smartphone will feature a notched 6.01″ OLED FullHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Powering it is Qualcomm’s discounted top-of-the-range chip, Snapdragon 845, packed by 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of inbuilt storage options. The device is also pre-installed the latest MIUI 10 version based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Pricing & Availability
Xiaomi will be releasing the Mi 8 in its event tomorrow (on 31st May). Along with Mi 8 and MIUI 10 version, the Chinese company is also expected to introduce along-awaited Mi Band 3.
According to rumors, the Mi 8will go on sale with a very competitive price: 2799 ($435) and 3199 yuan ($499) for the 6GB RAM/64GB and 8GB/128GB variants. The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be delivered not only in China but also in 8 other countries.
